Afresh

I fell off my blog.

I've been trying to climb back on it. There are so many reasons, some simple, some  really quite profound. But mostly it's just time. In the several-times-a-day scuffle with priorities, it seems to have fallen in a great heap at the bottom of the enormous pile. Even lower than the washing, which is saying something (and which is also an enormous pile).

So while I try to work out the ropes and rigging (for the climbing back on, you know), I'll enjoy fresh sunflowers on a table in desperate need of oil. The table, which once sat pristine and unused in my grandparents' formal dining room, now graces the kitchen in my new home. MY NEW HOME! It's a tiny house that needs a lot of love, but has already been transformed, in the space of less than a month, by paint and scrubbing brushes, the  incredible generosity of good friends, and the laughter, shouting and singing of my three gorgeous girls.

I'm about 50 days late, but happy new year! Here's to fresh beginnings.

  2. Love and laughter are what a home really needs. Singing too. It's been good to see you back. I've been dangling by one of your ropes too with a major family crisis here sapping all my energy. Scrub and paint and then fall into bed at night and sleep well.

  5. So happy to read this. Been thinking of you lately, Greer. Dont worry about the blog part, we're all here if/when you're ready to get back into it. Aside from my weekly portraits, my motivation for blogging has been sluggish at best lately too. It happens - real life. Main thing is those sunflowers, shelves full of cookbooks, a fresh start in a home that looks warm already. I hope this year brings all the good things for you and your sweet girls. Belinda xx

  7. Welcome back Greer and so pleased that you have found a home of your own again to share with your girls. I have almost fallen off my blog too, the start of a new school year has been so busy with so many changes and less time to squeeze in here. February is my January too! mel x

Congratulations on the house…so glad it has become a home!
And good luck getting to the bottom of that washing pile…I am constantly amazed that ours gets so big, so quickly and never seems to contain any of my things!

  21. Life as a single parent is busy and I only have 2 kids and you have 3 so I understand that blogging is a last priority. Loving the flowers on the table and in fact I bought myself a bunch of flowers this week from Woollies myself. I used to buy them often as they were about $8 but now they have gone up above $10 so I don't do it anymore however this week they had some nice roses for $10 and I splurged and bought some pretty pink ones. Hope you enjoy settling into your new home and are warm and cosy for winter. Regards Kathy A, Brisbane, Australia
