My food processor's been on the blink for over a year. It used to make my pastry for me. Lately, I've had to do it myself. I've rubbed butter into flour with my very own fingers. Dripped in the water, just enough to make the dough come together. I've kneaded it, but not too much.

Rest it in the fridge. Roll it out. Drape it across the tin then gently push it in.

It's become one of my very favourite things to do.

When I get the food processor fixed, if I do, I'll let it make pesto. Almond meal. Fish cakes.

But I might keep the pasty making just for me.

{We made a pie with those apples. And then another.}

  1. It looks divine, and pastry making really is therapeutic isn't it. x

  2. Yum!
    Your truly homemade apple pie looks delicious!
    My mom always made pie dough by hand…and so I do too!

  3. I think one of my favourite desserts is apple pie and ice cream. It looks warm and yummy. Regards Kathy A, Brisbane, Australia

  4. Oh, my. Yum! I have been craving apple pie this pregnancy. but no one else in my family has the good sense to eat it, which is both good and bad! Rather than eat a whole pie by myself, I have been buying four frozen mini apple pies and indulging in a hot pie every now and then once the kids are in bed. Gosh they taste good to my apple pie craving self. But I can only imagine how much better yours must taste! xx

  5. That pie looks amazing! Perfect weather for it as well (at least it is here in Melbourne!).

  6. Good pie! And such lovely photos. I would opt for vanilla ice cream too. x

  7. Looks scrumptious! Nothing beats a home made pie for sweets! Great to see you back on the blog too :)

  8. Aww apple pie is the best! And it is even better making it with family.

  9. Yum! I love to make my own pastry ... though come to think of it I haven't made any in a while ... hmm, I think we need pie too ;)

I love comments. Thanks for yours!
