Chalk and Cheese

It's bedtime. Stella and I are reading a book. I'm pointing to the pictures, she's saying the words. "Shoes. Birdie. BallOOOOOny. Feather. Buff-fly. Dog. Woof-woof. Pencil.

She's focused, curious.

Where's Pearl? Come and join in for the bedtime story, Pearl.

I hear giggling. Pearl appears, her big sister's pyjama pants on her head. She spins around, falls down, then she's off again.

They share a birthday and a bedroom, but that may be about it.

  1. Two children raised exactly the same and you still don't know what you'll get!!! Keeps you on your toes and guessing--a challenge every minute of every day. That's why I think being a mommy is one of the hardest jobs in the world! Sounds like you are doing a good job, mommy!

  2. Funny. Children are so different from one another (even identical twins are not identical) and sometimes it's easier to relate to one over the other. (for me that is) I remember my oldest loved to be read to and would sit still and cuddle while my daughter (whom I expected and hoped would do the same) could never sit still - I admit, it drove me a bit batty. If I were doing it over again, I'd just let her be and appreciate her strengths and work on her patience.
