Cushioning

I'm taking all that new yarn out for a test run and knitting a cushion cover before I launch myself into the blanket. Because, let's face it, the blanket may be a while. The couch was looking a bit bare so this ought to do the trick. I'm using the Nesting Squares Baby Blanket/Play Mat out of 'More Last Minute Knitted Gifts' as inspiration, and plan for a chunky garter stitch square for the back. Should be just the thing to brighten our lounge room.

My only hope is it doesn't clash with the new residents*. Though everything goes with fly larvae beige, I reckon.

I'm in between books at the moment, having just finished a second Anne Tyler novel, 'Noah's Compass'. Perhaps the in-between-ness can be attributed to the great stack  awaiting my selection, including a few second-hand bookshop finds, some treats from the Book Depository and a gift from the GM.

Now, where to begin?

Wishing you a happy Yarn Along.

* The maggots appear to have finished their migration into our lounge room. I'm sure you'll agree that is a very good thing.

  1. A Missoni inspired blanket sounds heavenly. I have hopes to one day crochet a ripple blanket with Missoni colours and zigzags...one day. Great stack of books you have there!

  2. I love the look of your projects:) Maybe I should try and crochet myself a cushion cover instead because my ripple blanket is still waiting for me to finish. I'm so glad to hear that those maggots have finished coming into your house, what a relief. xx

  11. I really want to knit a blanket but can only attempt something much simpler than your Missoni-inspired one. Looking forward to seeing the cushion and blanket when they're done, and very glad to hear the maggots are no longer visiting! x

  15. What a good idea to knit a cushion cover. So cosy and bright. Second hand book shops are wonderful (and my downfall)!
