Wednesday's have fast become knitting day on this blog, thanks to Ginny's Yarn Along. And aren't Wednesdays all the better when there's a finished project to show off? Here it is, the sweet little Jane, knit in a pale blue Debbie Bliss cotton. I love the pattern but I'm not enamoured with the texture of this yarn. It seems quite heavy and dense for cotton, but that probably just means we'll get some wear out of it during this ridiculous summer where long sleeves and jackets are on call most days.
Of course, today it's sweltering, so here's a pictorial journey of how successful I was getting one particularly headstrong nearly-two-year-old to model her new cardi in the midday sun.
We are clearly at that in-between stage in the knitting mama's life - no longer compliant babies who will wear whatever I choose and sit dribbling for the camera, but not yet savvy enough to understand a good bribe when it's on offer.
On the reading front, I'm still plugging away at Thea Astley. And still knitting away at the purple vintage woollen cardigan. More on that next week, I hope.
Ravelry notes for the pale blue Jane here.
That's so pretty (and I love tantrum photos the best - unbridled emotion!). I have a whole stash of debbie bliss cotton that I've cast on for dozens of projects but I just can't bear it. Thick and stringish, unravelling and full of knotted breaks - yuk yuk - but maybe I should just stop whinging and get something made in it, as your cardi does look very pretty!
ReplyDeleteThat's so pretty! I'm jealous - I just can't knit or crochet, my tension goes all weird and I miss stitches all over the place!
ReplyDeleteYou described the age perfectly! The cardi is beautiful and your photos are precious.
ReplyDeleteOh that top is adorable. I love the pictures!
ReplyDeleteAw, so pretty :) Love the photo montage! Here's to the days where a bribe will work ;)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cardi! You described the age perfectly- my boys have finally come back to willingly posing with their knits, but they are a few years older. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great sweater and adorable little one! I love the series of photo's of her taking the sweater off. Precious!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely sweater (and little one). The colour is perfect.
ReplyDeleteLove the cardigan and I have to say Debbie Bliss is not my favourite cotton to use either. How cute is your lo in her cardigan and I love the pics, the emotion is the best !
ReplyDeleteDebbie Bliss cotton isn't my favorite either--funny, as much as I love her cashmerino.
ReplyDeleteThose modeling pictures are just the cutest!!!! Love a girl with a mind of her own!
That looks like the perfect little sweater for when it gets a bit cooler.
ReplyDeleteLove the pictures, though.
Sorry for the tantrum, but she is awfully cute! I remember the 'fight' that my daughter and I had. She was about 3, and I had purchased (well ahead of the season from thrift and consignment shops) a whole bunch of dresses (she liked dresses a lot before turning 3 and looked so cute in them). Well her best friend was wearing shorts that spring & summer. So did my daughter want to wear all the dresses I just bought? I think you can figure out what happened. Shorts it was!
ReplyDeleteI love that pattern too - I like the kimono feel to it. In the top photo, it looks almost gray rather than pale blue.
Beautiful finished sweater!!! I love the pattern, I love the colour, I love the ribbon added to it, and in the picture...I love the texture. Great job...thanks for sharing
ReplyDeleteI adore the garter stitch detail! Such a sweet lovely sweater :)
ReplyDeleteJust gorgeous!! I love your photographs, you have a good eye and the pictures of her "protest" are the best. Those are the ones I end up treasuring the most : )
ReplyDeleteom my god hee hee he! i love this greer, what a fabulous post. your photos are gorgeous, your baby looks adorable, so so funny and cute.
ReplyDeleteand your knitting. what a sweet sweater, really beautifully done. i love this post.
:)
can't seem to find the link to the purple vintage cardi?
ReplyDeleteThey are so honest to their own emotions at that age. I'm sure it will be a popular cardi. Especially if you catch her at the right time. It looks beautiful and so does your little one!
ReplyDeleteOh look at that face; she is so over it. :) Lovely lovely cardigan though; I think your knitting is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThat top came out so sweet.
ReplyDeleteThe pictures are just priceless. I've got one of those, although most of the time he's complying. :)
ReplyDeleteThe cardi looks gorgeous!

What a beautiful cardi! The first and only (thus far) sweater that I knitted for my toddler--he refused to wear. Ever! Oh well, I liked it. warm wishes, Kerri
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful finished piece! I love the progression of taking it off-- so cute. What a beautiful girl.
ReplyDeletewow what a talent! i absolutely love LOVE it, i think you may have inspired me to start knitting more...
ReplyDeleteThat cardigan is great. Your daughter is adorable wearing it.
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute sweater! I'm working on a couple shrugs for my daughter's right now but I crochet so I don't think they'll be nearly as warm and cozy as yours is!
